World Bipolar Day 2026
To mark World Bipolar Day, join me — writer, editor, mental health advocate and self-published author — Katie Rickson, as I share my bipolar story.
In 90 minutes we’ll have the chance to cover all this and more:
- My story
- What bipolar, mania and depression can look and feel like.
- Ways to reframe bipolar – including neurodiversity and a strengths-based lens.
- Creating kinder & more inclusive workplaces.
- Live reading from my pocketbook (only a couple of sections)
- Q and A.
If you’ve always wanted to attend one of my lunch and learn sessions but haven’t had the opportunity, this event is for you.
I’ve deliberately kept ticket prices low to make this event as accessible as possible.
Although I’m based in Aotearoa New Zealand, my hope is that we will have a truly international audience. If you can’t make it live, don’t worry this event will be recorded.
Monday 30th March 2026. 12-1:30pm NZ
Where: Online. You’ll receive a Zoom link within 24 hours of the event.
A recording will be available if you can’t make it live (or can’t stay for the whole time).
Tickets: Standard tickets NZD $29 or $19 for concessions
Bring: A journal and pen and an open and curious mind
This is for you if:
– you follow me on social media and haven’t had a chance to come to one of my in-person events
– you live outside of Auckland
– you’ve been eyeing up my workplace training but maybe you’re self-employed
– you want to learn from the comfort of your home
– you’re looking for something low-price and high-value
– you want to do something different for World Bipolar Day
– you’re interested in a lived experience perspective of bipolar (I’ve learnt all my insights and strategies the hard way, believe me!)

About your host
I’m Katie, a copywriter, editor, poet, and lived experience speaker. I’ve had bipolar episodes for most of my adult life, but wasn’t diagnosed until I was eight weeks postpartum, and experiencing insomnia and mania. One thing that got me through this time was the mantra: “Something beautiful will come from this.”
I now write about my experiences of hospitalisation, diagnosis and identity, recovery, work, motherhood and more. I’ve been a guest lecturer at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington every year since 2018, a guest on podcasts, and a speaker at MUV Talks, and the 2017 Service Users in Academia conference.
I’m on a mission to raise awareness and reduce stigma. And I’m passionate about helping and inspiring YOU!

I share some previews from my upcoming book and will share updates including the launch date and when presales will be available!

“I highly recommend Katie’s course on starting a business with bipolar. I was unsure what to expect from such a niche course, however I was blown away with what I learnt and how helpful the day was.
“I loved the content of the course and meeting other like-minded people with bipolar. The course would benefit anyone with bipolar or another mental illness, who would like some help navigating their way through a business start-up. I couldn’t recommend this more!!”
